Latest Fishing Reports for Tellico Lake

Tellico Dam and Tellico Lake are part of an extension of the Fort Loudon project. The dam diverts water from the Little Tennessee River to Fort Loudon Lake rather than creating electricity.

Full pool 813 feet. Lake level is just under 8131/2 feet, up 1 foot from last week. Water temperatures are near 80 degrees. Smallmouth Bass — Good. The Heartland Angers Tournament out of the Canal Ramp last week took 10 pounds 15 ounces to win with two other limits of over 10 pounds right behind. Shaky-head worms and lizards have been hot. Crank-baits, spinner-baits, jerk-baits, jigs and the Alabama-rig are picking up fish. Largemouth Bass — Good. Rocky points and submerged wood in creeks are holding fish in the 3-10 feet range. Spinner-baits in white/chartreuse with gold willow-leaf blades remain popular. Carolina and Texas-rigs, Shaky-head worms and lizards, Senko’s and flukes are also producing catches. Striped Bass — Good. Swim-baits, buck-tail jigs, Rat’l-Traps and live shad are all finding fish. Crappie — Fair. The bite appears to be slowing. Fish are congregating around submerged timber all over the lake. Submerged structure and boathouses are holding fish with 15 feet being a favorite depth. Crank-baits trolled near submerged brush piles or minnows on lead-heads or under bobbers are catching fish. Walleye — Fair. Fish are 10-25 feet deep and are on submerged humps and around islands. The area below the old bridge trestles off Highway 129 is still producing. White buck-tail jigs tipped with minnows and jigged along the edges of the river channel or along flats adjacent to channels are producing fish. White Bass — Good. The fish are moving back into the main body of the lake and can be caught with small crank-baits, rooster-tails, beetle-spins and Rat’l-Traps.
