Lake Pontchartrain is a brackish estuary located in southeastern Louisiana. It is the second-largest saltwater lake in the United States, after the Great Salt Lake in Utah, and the largest lake in Louisiana.
Best spots: North side of The Trestles, mouths of the bayous along the north shore, The Causeway, South Shore Harbor area. Best baits: live shrimp.
Soon the USACE will be opening all 350 bays in the Bonnet Carre Spillway on Monday.
