Fishing has been tough this spring with the weather and the water temp unstable. Managed to catch a few nice bass in the back of a creek on a Texas rig worm. I went hours without a bit then after I changed my approach a bit and slowed way down I caught a 5 and a half pound bass. And a few more nice keepers. Hopefully the fishing will start to pick up once the weather becomes more stable. The spawn should be just about over for the bass. So they should be coming off the beds and hopefully will go on a feeding frenzy before they head out to deeper water.
Lake temperatures continue to rise with the warm weather. Surface temps range from the mid 60's on the main lake to upper 60's in the creeks. The lake is mainly clear at around summer pool with some floating debris. Bass continue to bite well. Melon jigs, chartreuse or white spinnerbaits and shad pattern crankbaits seem to be the flavors of choice. Crappie fishing has slowed. Most fish are still being taken shallow on tubes, grubs and minnows around 6 feet deep. Be prepared to change locations when searching for smaller schools of fish. Chartreuse or pearl seem to be the favored flavors of lures.
Fishing has slowed a bit this week due to fast rising lake levels. The lake is about 2 feet below summer pool, mainly stained to clear and in the low 60's. Bass are taking shad style crankbaits off points and rock banks, jigs and spinnerbaits in timber and jerkbaits near docks. Crappie are taking minnows, tubes and grubs at around 4 feet. Chartreuse or pearl have been productive. White bass can be caught on spinners and small crankbaits. Try points at the mouth of creeks and windy flats. Good luck.
Nolin is around 17 feet below summer pool, clear and in the mid 50's. Bass fishing is excellent on a variety of lures. Shad pattern crankbaits are catching good numbers of fish off points. White bass fishing is good using grubs, spinners and small crankbaits. Windy banks are producing best. Crappie fishing is good using jigs or minnows around 8 feet. Crappie are very susceptible to weather changes so plan accordingly.

Cat fishing is excellent. We fished 3/27/14 and caught several 30-40 pounders in 4 hours. Try to avoid those d--n dangerous bass fisher boys as they will run full blast through your fishing gear. I hope the next time my noodle locks up their motor. I think their mad because they fish all day and catch nothing but a sore arm while we stock the freezer with yummy blue cats-best tasting fish ever.
Nolin is clear, rising slowly at 20 feet below summer pool and 52 degrees. Bass fishing is fair on jerkbaits, rat-l-traps and jig-n-pork combinations. Good numbers are coming off shallow stumps and the lower sections of major creeks. White bass fishing is good right now. Spinners, grubs and small crankbaits are working well. Good numbers of large fish are being caught. Crappie fishing is fair at best. Most fish are taking jigs or minnows fished along standing timber. Plan around weather patterns for the best fishing.
